Røn Privacy Policy
Overview
The Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is handled in Røn.
Personal information will not leave your device without your permission
The purpose of Røn is to track your runs, which means health and location data is collected within the app.
You do not need an account to make use of Røn. Connecting Røn to Strava however adds additional features
and allows you to share your own data.
Locally Collected Data
All data collected by Røn remains on your device only, unless you choose to share it.
The following data is collected by Røn:
- Location, only when the app is used: Upon opening Røn, it's used to provide you with the local weather,
and during the run to track your route
- Health data: Heart Rate, Active Energy used. This is used during your runs
- Biometric/health data: Your age and resting heart rate. This is used to determine your heart rate zones
- Motion data: cadence, distance travelled
You will be asked for permission to collect this data upon starting the app.
Sharing data to Apple Health
Røn asks permission to share your run workout to Apple Health. Your runs workouts and it associated data will
be stored in Health, and will remain on your iPhone and Apple Watch only.
Sharing data to Strava
Røn allows runners to share their runs on Strava, the social network for athletes. If you choose to connect
to Strava, your runs can be automatically shared to Strava, or you can choose to upload activities manually.
Upon first connection to Strava, the "Auto Upload" option is enabled, which automatically uploads any
activity within the Røn app to Strava. If you disable this option in the settings, you can choose to upload
any run individually to Strava by using the "Upload" button in the overview after you've finished a run.
In the data uploaded to Strava, the following information is contained:
- Location information (your route)
- Heart Rate information during the run
- Your running cadence (steps per minute)
- The time, distance and pace of the whole run and individual laps
- Optionally, the shoes you used
You can choose to hide part of this information on the Strava site using their privacy options.
The Strava Privacy Policy contains all details of the
data you choose to share on Strava.
Using data from Strava
Røn downloads the following data from Strava:
- Routes
- Heart rate and pace zones
- Your account id, name and picture to show in settings
- Your shoes

For diagnostics purposes, some usage data is collected in anonymized format. This only serves to improve
the app, and cannot be linked back to you.
If you choose to take part in the beta program using testflight, more advanced usage data can be collected to help
improve Røn. The data collected in this way can also not be linked to your identity.
Your data will not be used for advertising and will not be shared with third parties
The data collected will not be used for advertising purposes.
It will not be send to any third party, with the exception of Strava if you choose to share it (see above)
